The primer and the top coat
L’Oreal Extraodinaire Gel Lacque has fast become my go-to polish line. The color range is from safe to fun but it’s the wear time that wins me over. I’ve had the polish last as long as 2 weeks chip free with minimal tip wear. My average experience is about 7 days of carefree wear. When I paint my nails I don’t baby them which is why I hate painting my nails. An hour of work for 1-2 days of wear seems preposterous to me. This is actually worth my time! Plus it seems to peel off for me with no need for remover. Ever. Let’s take a look at the shades I have bought!
I painted these terribly but I was on the phone and watching TV at the same time in my defense! The color is Lacqueriste!
Lacqueriste has been the longest lasting of the L’Oreal Extraodinaire Gel Lacque line. I always get at least 7 days of full wear and up to two weeks with just minor tip wear. I love the hot coral shade and I have gotten tons of compliments from women and men alike. It’s opaque in one coat but I prefer two.
Bold Bordeaux 7 days in
Bold Bordeaux is a great fall shade! It’s a deep vampy color that seems to shift with the lighting. Sometimes it is a purple black like OPI’s Lincoln Park After Dark and other times it’s like the Original Chanel Vamp, resembling dried blood. I would suggest using 2 coats of base with this one as it will stain your nails with just one coat. I average 7 days with only minor wear or chips on this one. It’s opaque in one coat but I prefer two.
Absolutely Timeless 4 days in
Absolutely Timeless is a very light true pink cream. It’s very opaque on the nails with three thin coats. It still looks a little sheer with two thin coats. This is now my default conservative polish.
Beauty Never Fades 5 days in
Beauty Never fades is a deep cherry cream that in indirect light is slightly more vampy. It’s a great option if you want something just a bit dark but still fairly classic. I got 7 days of wear and then it just peeled right off pretty much all at the same time on it’s own. No staining with this one. My only complaint on this bottle is the brush is cut wrong. It’s angled like an eyebrow brush! My husband loves the shade because it’s rich and pretty but not “dried blood” like the Bold Bordeaux.
I plan on expanding my collection of polishes as the need arrises but I’m quite taken with the wear time and peeling. The L’Oreal Extraodinaire Gel Lacque usually runs for about $12 for the base and top coat pair and about $6 per shade making it a fairly budget friendly solution. Amazon currently has the base kit on sale for $9 here along with $6 for the colors. They are also offering free shipping for orders over $35. I’d give the system a solid A-. I’d rate it higher if it wasn’t for the lack of quality control on the brushes.
Have you tried the The L’Oreal Extraodinaire Gel Lacque? I’ve heard other people don’t like it as much as I do so I’d love to hear reader feedback!
