Yes, you did in fact read the title correctly. I’m coining the term “Fall-i-day™”! Since today is my birthday, it’s fall and it’s about to be the holidays, I think it’s an apropos turn of phrase. I have both an epic wants wish list and an epic needs list. No one wants to talk about pants (the true shackle of adulthood), sheets, and the vegan protein I need to stock up on. People want to hear about the wants… the sparkly stuff that catches one’s eye. I’ve whittled down the list to give you a curated selection! Some of the things border on needs but I promise they are still shiny eye candy!
The Everyday Handbag
I have many a criterion when it comes to an everyday bag:
1. It must have a removable cross body strap.
2. The handles must fold down if it’s a satchel shape.
3. It needs to be sturdy and not precious.
4. It needs to be sizable but not too big or heavy.
This so far is the top bag I’ve found recently that meets all my requirements, is in my price range, and doesn’t look like a diaper bag. As much as I’d like a Rebecca Minkoff Bowery Satchel, a Coach Rhyder cross body, or a Philip Lim Pashi I simply can’t afford them and I think I’d be afraid to carry them. Knowing me, they would be stolen or ruined in heartbeat! My current bag is essentially kaput so you might qualify this as a need.
The Quintessential Earring
I used to have pierced ears but they healed over from not wearing earrings. I’ve been afraid to re-pierce them without having something I can wear 24/7 that goes with everything. I also don’t want something too flashy or that will get stuck in my hair. These delicate hoops fit the bill and bring a bit of bling into the mix. Normally I prefer my jewelry to be more boho than stuff you can get at a mall jeweler but these have a certain je ne sais quoi to them that you won’t find elsewhere. He certainly didn’t go to Jared for these (I’m mentally high-fiving myself for this awesome joke). They are by a brand called Liven Co and I pretty much want everything they make that I’ve seen thus far. Lots of new modern classics to say the least. Mr. CGR are you reading this?
His response: “You know I am; I edited it for you.” See how sneaky I am :p
The Essential Layering Piece
Anyone who knows me IRL knows I’m a sweater-a-holic. I can hear them all saying right now “you don’t need another sweater”. Hey you… yeah you! You shut your pie hole, shut it right now! Ahem, I need this in all 3 colors. I’ll take this whole outfit in fact! Don’t forget to click the link to see the back of the sweater! It’s super cute. Many of my nicer sweaters are damaged to the point I wouldn’t leave the house wearing them between an international move, top loading washing machines, and two pets who view me as their own personal BarcaLounger.
The Design Conundrum Fixer
I have this terrible niche in my bedroom next to my closet and my door that is a total waste of space. It’s not big enough for a bookshelf or a dresser and it’s placement in the room requires something that doesn’t stick out too far. This piece would solve the problem and add minor storage, shelving, and a mirror to the space. I could style it simply as you see here or I could lay out jewelry or even makeup on the shelf or in the drawer.
The Non-Cream Hydrator
Now that fall is in full swing, I’m using the heater in the house nightly. This is drying out my skin somethin’ fierce. I don’t want to add another oil or cream to the list of wants (though feel free to make suggestions) because I like this so much. It’s insanely hydrating and it’s more of an Asian treatment lotion than a toner. It’s very light on the skin but the effects are staggering and lasting. It absorbs quickly and layers under makeup beautifully!
The Multitasking Eye Cream
Once again, fall brings the pain in the skincare department with sleepless nights from allergies. An undereye double whammy. This promises to reduce puffiness, soothe redness, banish bags and lighten dark circles. Normally, I wouldn’t believe the hype but I’ve had one person in my own life recommend it and it was also recently touted in an interview with the legendary supermodel Amber Valetta. She is prone to all of the above and said this is the only eye cream that helped. She’s probably tried them all at this point so I’m inclined to think it’s worth trying.
The Natural Rosacea Treatment
Nothing short of a prescription for Azelaic acid and IPL is going to rid you of Rosacea. Even then it might come back. Rosehip oil is the homeopathic way to keep flareups down and this is the Rolls Royce of options. What makes Pai different is it’s supercritical extraction process and that it combines fruit and seed oils. I love my sea buckthorn items but they do little to control my Rosacea. It helps clear up flares but I want something to help prevent them in the first place. This is supposedly better than Trilogy which had been my go-to but it’s been increasingly hard to find in the US. Even though Pai is a UK based company they have great distribution world wide.
A Scents-Ploration Set
Maybe I can haz both? Perfume might as well be a vice for me. I’ve been on a perfume no buy for three freaking years and I need a fix man! These would certainly curb my desire to buy huge bottles with variety and layering potential.
My Biggest Lemming For 2014
Love it or hate it, this has been on my wish list all year! My wanting it isn’t 100% selfish, I’d like to review it for you guys! I haven’t seen a cool toned woman sporting this palette but I refuse to believe it only flatters warm or neutral toned folks. My husband goes gaga for the one pink eyeshadow I have so perhaps some variation on the theme might be prudent!
I hope you guys enjoyed my wish list! There are of course a whole slew of beauty items, kitchen gadgets, and jewelry I want desperately along with several things for the betterment of the blog but I tried to keep it short! I’m a product junkie and I’m afraid to admit it!
Want to fuel my lemmings or burn them? Let me know in the comments below!
