I hadn’t roamed the halls of Le Tarjay since I posted my general “fall” updates from Nate Berkus. I figured I was due for a drop in because it had been a while. I got to see the holiday items getting all set up (also $12 yoga pants on sale from $40)! Most of the items were good to exceptional quality even if I didn’t like them. Red and green is not my bag, baby! I prefer metallics and whites round the holidays because you can have the same decor for all your winter holidays or even pull them out throughout the year if they aren’t to obviously holiday entertaining pieces. I’m sorry this piece is kind of a mishmash of ideas so bear with me!
Holiday entertaining often starts and stops at the table. That isn’t a bad thing! I personally prefer multi-occasion appropriate pieces as a base. Good dishes are paramount!
I actually replaced my dishes when I moved back to the USA with these babies! They go with everything and even using them daily for 6 months they still look brand new. Since 90% of our meals are eaten at home they get handled and washed daily. It’s a perfect foil for food or festive serve ware! You get four full place settings making each place setting $15.
Plop these right atop your coupes for instant glamour! I love that you can use them all year but they still feel special enough for holiday entertaining.

These are so cute it’s almost unbearable! Whimsical and elegant!
Perfect for Canapés or cheese! It’s even dishwasher safe!
Holiday parties can often turn sour fast with spilt wine or accidentally broken stemware. These here are elegant and light but easy to hold due to the lack of stem and the slight grip from the glass pattern. Unless you are serving fine vintages or tasting wines as part of the party, save yourself some hassle and go with dishwasher safe stemless glasses. It’s four to a pack so at $2.50 a glass if one breaks it’s not the end of the world. They have a matching pitcher and glassware set perfect for cocktails!
Speaking of cocktails, let us give thanks to the Hipsters for the revival of the Moscow Mule! It’s a delicious and easy to prepare cocktail that is a bit festive and certainly fun. This mug is great because it’s stainless steel on the inside so you don’t get a funky tasting drink and it’s got an XL capacity which as a host means you won’t have to top off a cocktail for a good long time. My secret to the most memorable Mule of the season? Sub out 1/4 of the vodka for Ginger Liqueur for a spicy sweet kick with depth. I like Canton!
I saw these in person and they are pretty classy. I didn’t get a good close up because some women were bickering with a Target employee about “who gets the last box” and how many more might be in the area. With the fact that they are backordered online they must be covet worthy. If you prefer a silver accent on the table order now while you can! With four per pack they come in at $5 a piece so not too budget busting.
Just as nice as the ones at “East Oak” and “Ceramic Shack” but half the price!
OMG this is so awesome! Screw holiday entertaining! I’ll use this all year. I will probably get back ups. I don’t like lurex for napkins because it’s a bit rough on the face but it’s great for tablecloths and runners!
Bits and Baubs
The devil is in the details, BB. I don’t like a lot of holiday bling around the house as I like my tabletop and tree to be the focus but Tarjay had a few cute options to spread holiday cheer throughout the house in subtle ways!
This manages to look great and smell festive without shouting “HOHOHO” after it’s lit. The scent is a complex mix of blackberries, currants, citrus, bay, and pine. Tarjay says it’s just blackberry but I’m tellin’ ya it’s more complex than that. The lid is super shiny gold and the burn time is an estimated 25 hours. I will probably get one and if it preforms well I will buy out the PNW area 🙂
Cute and chic with a subtle nod to autumn and winter holidays. If you forget to pack it up at the end of the season no one will think it’s holiday decor.
While it can be used for food, I think you’d get more use out of it on the bar cart, a coffee table topper, or an elegant catch all tray at your entry!
Once again it can be used for food. I’d use it do display fruit or fill with scented pinecones.
This pillow is so cute in person. It’s on sale on line but not in the store. I like this more than all the other holiday pillows they have because it’s got a nice color palette, matte and shiny sequins, and it looks and feels more expensive. It’s a lumbar shape so it’s easy to add to existing bedding or seating. I also like that it’s not kitschy or religious so no matter who the guest is, it will be seen only as good taste!
See anything you like? Have any holiday entertaining plans? We’d love to hear about it!
