Make a new friend? Start dating someone new? Forget that your second cousin was coming to Grandma’s for Christmas? Maybe an old friend is visiting home and you just found out? You want to get gifts for someone but just aren’t sure what? Last minute gift ideas don’t need to lame, rushed, or from 7-11!
These are great ideas because ANYONE can find something at one of these that they will enjoy. If they are THAT hard to please, I’m sure it will be re-gifted to a worthy recipient.
A Seasonal Plant
An amaryllis is a perfect gift for a family. They grow fast, live a decent amount of time, and are easy to care for. Don’t get a poinsettia unless they have no pets or young children as they are poisonous.
When in serious doubt run into the local TJ’s and get these items!
These nut oils are high quality and taste amazing. Perfect for pastas and salads or even baking!
These are great! I have been using the hot pepper in both Mexican and Asian cuisine. The lemon and basil pair with many things including each other for an excellent vinaigrette.
They had these on sample a few weeks ago at my TJ’s. Very robust in flavor. I’d also recommend any of their flavored holiday coffees!
These tasting teas look sooo fun! Just enough for about two cups of each!
Who doesn’t love hot chocolate?
It’s worth it just for the black currant mustard! Makes a great rustic salad dressing or pick me up to lightly flavored wurst.
These were open to smell a few weeks ago. My favorite is the Rosewood!
The Fuji Apple and the Tahitian Paradise smell so good. The Fresh Fruit smells nice but it is much more moisturizing than the other two.
Even if you don’t have a Trader Joe’s in your neighborhood, many upscale or natural markets will have a few similar gifts this time of year.
When All Else Fails
Champagne! As long as they aren’t on a 12-step program this gift never fails. Even if they aren’t big drinkers they will save it for a party or promotion and think of you while drinking it. Make sure to get a nice one!
My favorites for gifting:
1. Nicholas Feuillatte Rosé
2. J Brute Rosé
3. Veuve Clicquot
4. Chandon Etoile Rosé Cuvée
5. Schramsburg (all)
6. Louis Roederer Brut Premier
These all offer lots of flavor and are under or around $50.
