I’ve had microdermabrasion professionally done about 6 times. The first time I had it, it was absolutely magical. My skin glowed like a pearl for a good week. I went to another salon and bought a package. The results were not as good and I ended up getting several broken capillaries. At that point, I gave up the idea. Derma E sent this scrub to me and it took me a while to try it out because I was worried it would be too much on my sensitive skin. The Derma E Microdermabrasion Scrub has excellent ratings at many retailers, has won awards, and Makeup Alley reviewers love this stuff too.
What Derma E Says
Immediately improve the appearance of your skin using this gentle yet effective multi-award-winning Microdermabrasion Scrub. This salon-perfect formula uses an exclusive crystal blend including Dead Sea Salt and Volcanic Sand (rich in Silica) to buff away dull surface cells, help diminish the appearance of fine lines, wrinkles and acne scars, and absorb excess skin oils. Enriched with natural astringents Lime and Lemon Peel plus antioxidants Grapeseed and Vitamin E, this pro-grade treatment retexturizes skin, leaving it soft, smooth and younger-looking. May also be used on your hands, elbows, knees, heels or any part of the body to promote soft, smooth and healthy skin. Ideal if you’re looking for immediate results from a salon-perfect treatment in the privacy of your own home. Please note: The crystal blend used in this product is a large molecular structure and is therefore not bio-available to the body, so there is no possibility of absorption through the skin. 100% vegan, cruelty-free, paraben-free, sulfate-free, mineral oil-free, lanolin-free, gluten free, GMO-free.
What CGR Says
I like the Derma E Microdermabrasion Scrub but I don’t love it. On my face, I can only use it dry and very carefully according to the directions. The directions say to use only upward strokes. This takes forever with the dry method because you have to redistribute the scrub after every upward pass. I can use it dry on my hands in circles and it takes much less time. The dry method minimizes irritation and is a softer exfoliation.
As for the wet method, it’s just too strong for any area of my body except my feet and elbows. It’s a miracle worker on those areas for dry winter skin.
I’ve used Derma E Microdermabrasion Scrub mostly for my face. It does leave your skin smooth and bright. I can’t say I look younger looking or have had any positive effects on any scarring. I’ve used this every other week for about 2 months on my face so I may not have experienced the cumulative benefits. With my skin being so sensitive, I can only use physical exfoliation sparingly. This won’t replace any chemical or enzymatic exfoliants for me but it’s nice to have a physical option. I’d also like to note this has a strong natural citrus scent so you might not want to try it if you are sensitive to citrus essential oils. It is also mildly moisturizing.
The Derma E Microdermabrasion Scrub is a nice manual exfoliator that will work best for non-sensitive skin types or body parts other than the face or neck. I also think it’s more appropriate to use this scrub at night in case of irritation or redness. Overall, while it’s a solid product, I wish the crystals were smaller and the base was more emollient. I give this product a B grade. It’s currently on sale for $17 if you’d like to try it!
