In the hunt for Korean beauty products and in the name of science, I went to the Koreatown in my area looking for some essences. Well, they were fresh out but they had a whole bunch of sheet masks. I decided to pick up three masks and today’s review is for the Vanedo Beauty Friends Sheet Mask Aloe. I don’t have a lot of information about the company, but minor digging on the internet tells me they have a basic line of different types of sheet masks. They appear to be a drugstore brand too. The mask was very affordable, 99 cents! You can actually get 12 packs even cheaper on Amazon. This is my first sheet mask of any sort. It was a fun experience with great results, so I’m happy I got two more to try.
The fit of the mask doesn’t work with my face shape too well. The forehead was much too large, the chin was fine, the jaw area wasn’t quite wide enough, the temples were too wide, the nose was ok, but my high nasal bridge seemed to be a problem as it wouldn’t lay right, and the eye holes were too small. If you have a heart or diamond shaped face this would provide a better fit. My face is oval to round and it was just a bit off.
Hannibal Lecter Time!
The package says it’s a hydrogel mask, but it feels more like a cotton one. It’s super strong; you don’t have to worry about tearing it at all. I actually used the wet mask to “scrub” my chest, hands, and arms after it was finished on the face to use up the rest of the essence on the sheet mask. It didn’t even stretch out.
Mask Essense & Performance
According to the directions you can heat or chill the mask and you must apply it to cleansed and toned skin for twenty minutes. I went a step further and used PTR Unwrinkle to make sure my skin was ready to soak up all the goodness.
The Vanedo Beauty Friends Sheet Mask Aloe is supposed to be deeply moisturizing and soothing. The essence in the package I dug out and spread all over my neck and chest didn’t feel that way at all. In fact, it felt slightly drying at first. Twenty minutes in the opposite started happening. My neck and chest felt great, very soothed and moisturized. The mask was very wet still after 20 minutes everywhere but the chin. I guess my chin just soaked the essence right up. I’d put my mask in the fridge for a few minutes before use as directed and it was indeed very soothing. It was a little hard to watch TV with it on because of the eye holes, but I still found it relaxing. When I removed the mask my skin didn’t seem that different at first. By the time I’d finished wiping the left over essence on the mask on my body, I started to see results.
The Vanedo Beauty Friends Sheet Mask Aloe seriously depuffed my face. I didn’t know it was puffy. I looked 10 pounds thinner for two days after using the mask. My redness was helped dramatically for a whole week. My skin hydration was up and I used less product all week too. My expression lines were soothed some, but I decided to put my Derma E cream on top. About an hour later I looked better than when I used the Chanel serum. Even my pores and shallow acne scars were plumped up and smooth. The pores and scars looked much improved for 5 days. My skin felt really comfortable. I had a small break out by my mouth that was also significantly calmed by the mask. I didn’t notice any brightening, tightening, lifting, or any other wizardry on me that more mature skin might look for. I think using PTR Unwrinkle and the Derma E cream in conjunction with the mask were partially responsible for the astounding results.
My only qualm about its performance is the smell. It’s very strong, but it’s not irritating while on the skin or to the nose. It’s a fresh clean type of smell, but it’s VERY STRONG.
The Vanedo Beauty Friends Sheet Mask Aloe is a budget friendly sheet mask that addresses many issues for all ages and types of skin. It’s certainly worth trying. I know very little about the company. I don’t know if they do animal testing and I know the mask contains parabens. Based on the performance of the mask, I give it an A. The strength of the scent is the only negative here. I will certainly be buying it again and for the price I can afford to do so regularly.
