Sunday Riley Good Genes is the holiest of holy grails for me. I think this stuff must be made out of fairy dust or unicorn hairs or something equally mythical. If you combine it with my other HG product, Fresh’s Black Tea Instant Infusion, you have something even more magical on your hands. It’s like being airbrushed, but it lasts! Before we get to the pontificating, let’s go over the products claims.
What it is:
A brightening, multitasking, radiance treatment, and mask.
What it is formulated to do:
Everyone wants the unmistakable look of having good genes. This hydrating treatment is formulated with key ingredients that plump the look of fine lines to reveal brighter, renewed skin, and support natural circulation to create a smooth, vibrant complexion. Long term use will help restore damaged skin, reduce hyperpigmentation and scars, reduce the depth and number of lines and wrinkles, even out skin tone, and increase skin firmness.
Sunday Riley Good Genes lives up to every claim and exceeds them when paired with the Fresh’s Black Tea Instant Infusion. When I first used these, I had used the Fresh, one night on its own, to see how I looked. I was shocked how good I looked in the morning and then I added Sunday Riley Good Genes to the next night. I was doubly shocked the next day. My skin looked and felt like porcelain. Almost poreless, lineless, perfectly moisturized, even textured and even toned. My husband asked me if I put foundation on that morning because I looked so good. Over the few days I used my sample, my acne scars lightened. Each day I looked better than the last. My skin was absolutely glowing and about as perfect as it was going to get sans botox or a laser resurfacing treatment. I hardly needed any base makeup, just a dab of tinted moisturizer or a touch of concealer for my whole face and mostly just around my under eye area. I got carded everywhere. Someone told me after carding me, I looked in my early twenties so they needed to be sure. The early twenties? I’m 36! Granted, I don’t look like most of my other friends that are my age, but I don’t think I could pass for that young.
As for the product itself, it’s a nice gel balm texture that spreads easily and smells heavenly. I put the product on directly after my essence and require no other product on top. The product does not burn or leave me red or aggravate my Rosacea. With the hydrating cleanser from Derma E, the Fresh Essence, and Sunday Riley Good Genes I can skip a moisturizer. Sunday Riley Good Genes doesn’t feel moisturizing or drying when you apply it but after a few minutes you begin to feel the hydration kicking in. I find I like using Sunday Riley Good Genes every other day. On the off days, I use one of my oils (Sonia Kashuk, SR Luna, Fresh Seaberry, Acure Organics Argan Oil) with a cream on top (Derma E hydrating Creme). While the product is gentle, it is good to note that it’s got a whopping 40% unneutralized lactic acid in it. Those with sensitive skin might want to try it that way. I’ve been able to use it every day with no problem, but I get better results rotating it. Sunday Riley Good Genes is in no way cheap at $105 an ounce. This product will change your skin. It’s insanely effective and works wonders. Plus, your skin will be able to better absorb everything else you put on it that much better.
Sunday Riley Good Genes is a wonderful addition to any skin care routine. It will work for any skin type, age, or sex. Now that it’s carried in store at Sephora, please go get a sample! Just be prepared to go back a few days later for a whole bottle! Being that this is an HG for me, it’s an A+ * ∞ for me!
