I mentioned in my Tatcha post last week that I was in the market for a new cleanser. My cleansers, with the exception of Gabriel Organics, started making my face red as a beet and sometimes with hive like lumps. I have no idea what is going on with my skin. My routine has been fairly consistent and using products I’ve been using for months with no problems. It may be the change in weather or all my health issues finally manifesting some skin problems. Either way, it means I’m on the hunt for new cleansers which is where Sunday Riley Ceramic Slip Cleanser comes in. Let’s look at what Sunday Riley has to say about this cleanser before we get into the review!
What it is:
A gel-based, foaming clay cleanser rich in vitamin C and essential oils.
What it is formulated to do:
This cleanser purifies the skin, tightens pores, and supports natural collagen and circulation with natural essential oils to tone and balance the skin. It detoxifies, minimizes pore size, and helps you achieve a flawless, “ceramic-smooth” complexion.
What it is formulated WITHOUT:
What else you need to know:
Flashfacial: five minutes, two products, one dramatic result. Lactic acid plus green clay DIY mask to reveal flawless, glowing, radiant skin—in a flash. Mix three pumps of Good Genes with two pumps of Ceramic Slip, leave on for five to 10 minutes, and rinse off.
-Refined French Green Clay: Tightens pores, removes impurities, and infuses skin with vital minerals.
-Vitamin C: Helps reduce the appearance of large pores, wrinkles, and discoloration while stimulating collagen growth.
-Black Pepper: Stimulates circulation for naturally warming cellular revitalization.
-Sandalwood: An anti-microbial agent that helps with skin irritation, inflammation, allergic conditions, and eczema; promotes radiance.
Let’s get real, $45 for a cleanser is a lot of money. I’ll tell you right now it’s worth the price. Why is is worth the price? It does what it says it will and more. You only need the scantest amount of product and it’s a multipurpose powerhouse.
Sunday Riley Ceramic Slip Cleanser is a thin clay cleanser that has a fantastic scent. It’s floral, earthy, and spicy. The product feels slightly slick where most clay cleansers feel gritty or dry. This is due to the quality of the clay and the host of oils in the cleanser. Make sure to shake the bottle or stir your sample, it’s critical to mixing the product! You can use this cleanser several ways. This is everything that I’ve tried so far.
1. A second cleanser after an oil cleanse: Best results as a cleanser, took my skin to some sort of next level. No makeup traces at all. Perfect skin the next few days.
2. A morning cleanse: Great choice for morning and makes the skin exceptionally smooth for makeup.
3. A mask: Pat the product onto dry skin and leave it for 5 minutes. Remove with a warm cloth and water splash. Your skin will feel like porcelain when you use it this way. My husband couldn’t stop feeling my face for two days. This sounds sweet but it was annoying, so be warned. If you leave it on too long you might get too tight and dry, so limit it.
4. As a “mask or cleanser cocktail”: Mix with an oil, super moisturizer, mask or another cleanser to boost it!
5. Spot treat: I’ve used this to spot treat active blemishes and a deeply clogged pore. Just dab on the blemish and a few hours later it’s much improved if not gone. The deeply clogged pore took two such treatments before it just “popped out” of the pore with the gentlest pressure.
As a cleanser, it leaves the skin quite smooth, fresh, and soft with no tightness. It’s only lightly foaming so don’t expect a sudsy experience. It kicks most dry flaky skin to the curb without being moisturizing. It does help clear up blemishes and blackheads. Pores look tighter and the texture of the skin looks better even after one use. The results aren’t fully cumulative, however. After a few uses, you seem to reach your plateau of improvement or I did. It does make the skin glow. I did find that if I used it daily along with Good Genes and Luna it was a little too drying. Every other day seemed to be totally fine. I had no lumps, bumps, or redness from this cleanser. It’s powerful but gentle! I find this will remove light makeup, but I wouldn’t put it up against a full face and expect it to remove everything. I’ve had no trouble using it around the eye area, but it was only on that delicate skin for the merest of moments before being removed. I don’t know if it would help with milia, but I think it might just proceed with the utmost caution.
Sunday Riley Ceramic Slip Cleanser is an amazing product. It’s usable by every skin type. Maybe not as a twice daily cleanser for those that are super dry and sensitive but I think any skin can tolerate it. If you are oily, blemish prone, normal, combo or need a mask that’s not quite as strong as GlamGlow but has similar effects, this is a must have. As for my search for a new daily cleanser, I’m not sure this one can be used daily with my current routine. I still plan on getting a full bottle. I was rotating four cleansers before my skin freaked out so I have no problem switching it up! Even though it is pricey, I suspect a bottle would last me nine months to a year as an every other day cleanser and as an occasional mask or spot treatment since it’s over four ounces. This is certainly a “you get what you pay for” situation! We give the Sunday Riley Ceramic Slip Cleanser an A+ rating and full bottle worthy status! It’s available just about everywhere to buy in store or online!
