This mask was actually sent to my husband by Derma E to review a few months ago but as many of you may know he’s been gone on business for some time and was never able to give this a proper review. This December, I decided to try it myself after a foundation gave me some pretty horrible clogs and zits. While the results aren’t quite as good as the GlamGlow mask I reviewed a while back, the under $20 price tag will appeal to most of you.
Purifying 2-in-1 Charcoal Mask deeply detoxifies skin of harmful micropollutants in two ways: (1) Natural clays infused with Kimarine® Wakame, Bladderwrack and Activated Charcoal lift out dirt, oil and bacteria to decongest pores as the mask dries; (2) Apricot Seed Powder exfoliates away dead skin cells and captured debris upon removal. Kaolin and Bentonite Clays absorb excess oils and impurities, relieving skin congestion. Kimarine® Wakame is a potassium-rich, magnesium-rich seaweed that is clinically proven to protect skin against environmental pollutants (exhaust fumes, cigarette smoke, heavy metals). Bladderwrack is an antioxidant-rich, mineral-rich seaweed known for its water-binding properties, supporting healthy skin hydration and nourishment. Activated Charcoal, known for absorbing 100 to 200 times its weight in impurities, purges pores of deeply rooted toxins, then Apricot Seed Powder gently exfoliates away micropollutants. Ideal for oily, active or urban skin types, even safe for reactive skin (minimal ingredients and allergy-tested), used this formula once or twice a week for skin that looks dramatically fresher, healthier and purely glowing.
After application, I only wore it for about 5 minutes.
I am not the target market for this mask scrub combo in the least! I still like it, though. It’s not quite a drying as the GlamGlow but it’s not as smoothing. The mask lightly moisturizes, cleanses, exfoliates, and treats blemishes. While it didn’t magically cure all my foundation wrought ills, it did bring things to the surface quickly and helped minimize the clogging. I think it’s still a little too strong for regular use for me but when I’m particularly clogged it comes in handy. The scrub part is a little rough but you can mostly negate that by splashing the mask off mostly before wiping it off with a washcloth or flannel. I’ve used this a few times as a spot mask, just on my nose or an area on my chin where I tend to clog the worst and it’s really helped lessen the clogs.
I would advise trying this mask if you have oily or combination skin. I’d also say it’s great for men as they tend to have thicker skin than women. If you are dry and sensitive like me, you can still use it just remove it by splashing. My only real negative on this that it can stain your skin and grout so make sure you clean up as soon as you are done! The Derma E Purifying 2 in 1 Charcoal Mask lives up to its claims and is very well priced.
