First can we all agree Korres Black Pine Firming Lifting Antiwrinkle Night Cream is way too long of a name? I will call it Korres Black Pine Night Cream for the rest of the review. I was super excited to see that I could get 1/3 of an ounce of Korres Black Pine Night Cream with my last Sephora order as a 100 point perk. Into the cart it went. I tend to love all things Korres. I love their yogurt line especially. I’ve also used the wild rose line and I loved their lipsticks. The balms have a cult status as do the body butters! I’ve had them all at one point. My 20’s were a Korres decade if you will. I even bought stuff for friends and family from this line. Did it live up to my expectations?

Did it live up to my expectations? No. Let me explain. When I get a Korres product I expect it to be a pleasure to use, mostly to smell good and feel naturally luxe. This product didn’t have either feature. It also made me break out like a sombitch for weeks. Still is in fact!
The cream feels like any old cheap cream you could buy at the drugstore. There is nothing about the texture or feel of it that screams luxury as claimed. Not a big deal. The cream feels heavy on the skin for its weight and leaves a bit of film no matter how much you pat/rub/press/roll. The scent smells like someone poured Calvin Klien Euphoria Blossom into a moldy bicycle tire and then squirted it back out and put it on your face. I’m sensitive to scents but I’m pretty sure anyone who uses it can tell it’s perfumed to high hell. The breakout happened within a few minutes. It kind of stung my face. I thought it was because I wasn’t done recouping from the other skin travesties I had but I’d been back to using my normal Sunday Riley routine so I figured my mug was back to it’s previous tolerance. I have broken out due to ferments before but this was a combination of hive like spots and regular pimples/cysts. Usually, when I start a new ferment product I’ll have one or two small under the skin zits that come and go in a day or two. This was my experience when I started using Fresh’s black tea line which features black tea ferments just like this one. This also has pine ferment so maybe that is the issue. Normally, this would go away but I used the cream exclusively for two weeks and it never subsided. I’m still dealing with the aftermath two weeks after my trial. I also didn’t find it very moisturizing as claimed. Now for the good part.
I looked like a teenager. Spots and all. You could feel your skin firming and raising. Hell, I didn’t know my skin was saggy like that. I’m in my late 30’s though most people guess my age at 20 ish to 27 when the meet me or I never tell them and then they find out my real age and they are shocked. I would agree, mid to late 20’s looks and sounds right because I do most of the right things to care for my skin and I eat fairly healthy. I don’t smoke, I only drink a few glasses of wine a week, and I avoid the sun. This made me look 10 years younger than that. Pores were erased. The expression line in my forehead was gone by day 3. My exceedingly faint nasal labia lines were cherubic plumped. Where the lifting occurred was more around the outside of my face and my chin/jaw. I’ve used four or five firming treatments in my day just in the process of testing samples. None produced these results. The one from Caudalie is fairly effective and no breakouts but not on this level. The improvement I saw on day 3 of my trial continued through the two weeks never getting any better. You can feel it working, though. Your face stings a bit, it’s incredibly warm deep down like you get from a very stimulating facial massage from a skilled facialist. It’s almost too much to go to sleep with on your face, to be honest. I started applying it at like 8 pm and then topping it off with a little Derma E Hydrating Creme for extra moisture. The improvements don’t last after you stop using the cream but my nasal labial lines are still better to my very critical eye. I would equate the results to the before and afters I’ve seen of one microcurrent facial.
When it comes to firming, Korres Black Pine Night Cream certainly lives up to its claims. It did improve the texture of my pores on my cheeks a bit so my face did look smoother. It did help with lines quite a bit in an almost filler like fashion. I didn’t add any moisture to the skin, it was not luxe at all, it smelled horrific, and it made me break out like crazy! I’m sensitive to smells and ferments or molds of any sort. So where does that leave us? I’m not sure. For me, I’d give the product a lower rating. For some of you, this might be a dream product. You need to sample it, preferably at a time you can let your skin go crazy so you don’t end up at work looking like you’re 16-year-old in the midst of the worst acne of their lives. Sephora currently has samples available in packets with a $25 order so you can try this for yourself if you order something or just saunter into the store and ask for a sample. This product is a miss for me even though I know it works for firming quite well. I’d rather look 27 than 17 with acne. Also, my apologies for not including a texture pic, I can’t even deal with that smell today!
Product Rating: C+ for me personally
Repurchase: Hell no!
