Bite Beauty Amuse Bouche Lipstick replaced the Luminous Creme formula in their cult lineup of products. Early reports were very flattering of this product and I was lemming about 2/3 of the 34 shade line up. I was about to plunk down some serious cash when I saw Sephora had a 100 point perk of a mini in Radish which is described as a deep magenta. You know I can’t resist a mini lipstick, so I bought the moisturizer (Sunday Riley Tidal) I was planning on getting plus the perk and called it a day! Here is what Bite has to say about the new lipstick line.
What it is:
A collection of high-impact lipsticks in dimensional shades that have been handcrafted to deliver extreme moisture, soft texture, and creamy wear.
What it does:
Swipe on bold, creamy lip color with Bite Beauty’s Amuse Bouche. Created and crafted by hand, Bite’s small batch, low-heat process preserves a balanced blend of lip-quenching nutrients, vitamins, and omega oils that are essential for achieving healthy-looking lips. Made with 12 edible oils and triple milled pigments, this lipstick provides saturated lip color with weightless coverage and a citrus flavor made from fresh pressed fruit.

I don’t even know where to start with the Bite Beauty Amuse Bouche Lipstick. I will throw down the caveat that I don’t have any other shade to test but this one. It’s a mini and sometimes the mini’s aren’t quite the same. I have quite a few Bite minis and full sized products and they are usually 100% consistent across the board.
As for the claims, this is a pigment-packed lipstick. It totally delivers. Radish is ever so slightly less than 100% opaque in one swipe. Most of you would probably think it’s 100% but I’ve played with the swatches and it’s just a tiny bit under that. Close enough for government work. The color is beautiful on me. It is not that moisturizing as claimed. It’s not drying but it’s not nearly as moisturizing for my lips as the Luminous Creme formula. This makes me sad. I used to count on those in the winter. The texture is soft and it’s creamy during application. Once it sets up on the lips it doesn’t seem to go anywhere. Mind you I have dry lips year round that only 8 glasses of water a day and 3 applications of lip balm per day will keep in top shape. Plus weekly exfoliating. My pout is high maintenance for sure. When you first apply it, it’s easy to love. Even though it wasn’t as slick or moisturizing as the Luminous Creme, I was very happy with it.
About 20 minutes into the wear time the Bite Beauty Amuse Bouche Lipstick started to migrate into the lines I have around my mouth. I’m not a smoker but I have some light lines like a smoker would from frowning and pursing my lips. It’s been a rough life and this area of my face is the only part to really show any age. Because this lipstick is so high in pigment and wears like crazy, if it gets anywhere outside the lip it looks bad. Forget eating anything greasy. You will look like a drunk clown if you don’t remove this first. Removal is actually hard because it’s so pigmented and long wearing! I’ve had times where it hasn’t done this and times where it has. I can’t tell if it’s something to do with lip balm residue or food oil residue or even toothpaste residue.
After 6 hours and a meal. It’s all over my mouth area and my teeth 🙁
On the days it works as designed it’s one of the better lipsticks I’ve tried. It doesn’t transfer much, it wear for hours, stains for a day and it doesn’t leave you dried out. On the days it doesn’t, I look like a sad drunk clown that’s been punched in the mouth. I have yet to try this with a lip liner or primer, so that is my next step. I also need a new lip brush as mine fell in the toilet.
I plan on giving Bite Beauty Amuse Bouche Lipstick many more chances. In fact, I plan to get the Spring Fling Set during the VIB sale which has three minis and their clear lip liner. I’m willing to get a liner to make the formula work because it’s nice and the shade range is beautiful. I preferred the Luminous Creme for moisture but the wear time on the Bite Beauty Amuse Bouche Lipstick is better. As for my current favorite lip products, Bite’s matte pencils, NARS pencils, and UD’s new Gwen Stefani collection are topping my list and I don’t even really like matte stuff that much. This new formulation is closer to the NARS Audacious line of lipsticks, which I also love but these are less drying so far than the NARS can be. I also like Clinique Pop Lips and most of the Chanel lipsticks but for the price, these are better than most of what is out on the market for lipsticks. If you had crossed Revlon Super Lustrous and NARS Audacious but with organic good for you food grade ingredients you would have a similar product to the Bite Beauty Amuse Bouche Lipstick. The only other caveat is the lipstick smell and taste are strong for the first hour of wear so if you are sensitive, smell before you buy.
