If you are a regular reader of this blog, you know I’m a fan of wine and in the summer, there is nothing better for me than a bottle of rosé. It’s not quite summertime yet but I’ve adopted rosé all year. When I see a new budget rosé ($10 or less) I have to try it. LAGRANJA Garnacha Rosé is $5 at your local Trader Joe’s but you can also find it in Europe. I’ve waxed poetically about the line of wines they put out and it’s one of my favorite budget labels. I probably buy a bottle of their wine every week. It’s always good!
The LAGRANJA Garnacha Rosé is 13.5% ABV. It’s a rosé of Garnacha or Grenache depending on where you hail from. I love their labels and this flamingo is no exception! I haven’t seen this offered before at TJ’s so for those of you with bigger wine sections in your local store, might have already tried it. I chilled this wine down to about 50 degrees and used a stemless white wine glass for tasting. It showed fine cool and at room temp though I preferred it chilled so keep an ice bucket or Corkcicle handy. The wine is a vibrant hot pink. The wine had a bountiful red fruit aroma upon opening.
The LAGRANJA Garnacha Rosé has a nose full of strawberry, blood orange, and florals. There are hints of tropical fruits too which is surprising. The nose also has some mineral quality too. When you taste it the fruits are explosive but short-lived, with slightly lingering berries, citrus, and mineral character into the moderate length finish. The acid is great for food. The more chilled it is the easier it is to sip alone.
I really like this wine and it will be a staple! The price and quality are perfect for a daily drinker in my estimation. It’s not as complex and or nuanced as some of my other favorite rosés but the cheeky packaging and screwtop make it easier to love. I give this an 87 point score for the juice and an A+ for ease of use and cuteness!
Have you tried LAGRANJA Garnacha Rosé? Have a favorite Rosé I should put on my radar? Let me know!
