Over the past few months, I’ve been ill, and I was on a no drinking order from my Doctor. I’m cleared now, so I can go back to posting about wine. I decided to start treating myself occasionally and allowing myself to buy wine over $10. That’s how I picked up this $12 bottle of Chloe 2015 Pinot Grigio. Normally, Pinot Grigio isn’t that complex or exceptionally better as the price goes up. This one, however, is really more complex than even more expensive ones I’ve had so it’s a great value in that sense.
Chloe 2015 Pinot Grigio comes in at 12.5% ABV. I chilled the wine to 45 degrees and kept it cool with a Corkcicle. I used a stemless white wine glass for tasting. The wine was a lovely light gold color and had a hint of a peridot sheen. When I opened the bottle, I got a heady aroma of freshly sliced stone fruit.
The Chloe 2015 Pinot Grigio has a nicely perfumed nose full of fresh peaches and nectarines, Meyer lemon, minerals, honeysuckle, and hints of quince. The taste is quite similar, with some herbaceous notes rounding out the flavor. The finish length is exceptional with a nice helping of dried peach flavor, minerals, and oddly a hint of salt. Absolutely mouth watering flavors. The acidity is just right to drink it alone or have it with food. It’s the most complex and strongly flavored Pinot Grigio I’ve had in a long time.
I will certainly buy this again when I want a light white wine with a lot of flavor. As for the rating, I’m giving it a solid 91 points. It’s pretty exceptional, and I highly suggest you grab a bottle while it’s still warm outside in the Northern Hemisphere!
Have you tried the Chloe 2015 Pinot Grigio? If so let me know what you thought!
