I’ve had a small sample size of the Clinique Pep-Start Eye Cream for months now, and I use it often. I’m pretty sure the mini tube is some kind of pocket dimension because I have yet to run out of it! I kept telling myself “I’ll write a review when I run out.” That day has yet to come, so I might as well do it now.
What it is:
An instant brightening and hydrating eye cream that features a blend of peptides to help combat the visible effects of your busy life.
What it is formulated to do:
This lightweight eye cream provides a rush of hydration and instant brightening so you look and feel refreshed, wide awake, and ready for anything in as little as three seconds. Its cool touch and de-puffing tip help keep eyes looking fresh while smoothing the way for makeup. Plus, its peptides help support natural collagen reserves that can be threatened by stress, fatigue, and lack of sleep—the tell-tale signs of your busy life.
What else you need to know:
This product is ophthalmologist tested and ideal for all skin types. The oil-free formula works under and over makeup.
I like Clinique Pep-Start Eye Cream, but I don’t love it. It doesn’t live up to the claims for me. It doesn’t depuff, it doesn’t brighten, and I’ve seen no reduction in lines while using it. I will say it does feel nice and light. It seems to provide light hydration, perfect for summertime use. Despite the massive amount of silicone in it, it doesn’t feel silicone-y, and it doesn’t break me out or give me milia. It works fine under makeup. I used it on and off for three months, more on than off so if there were some significant skin care benefit I would have seen it. It didn’t make me look worse. I was really ill this summer with a kidney issue that has partly cleared up, and I was under a lot of stress for both work and personal life. A lot to deal with at once so maybe the fact that I didn’t look like a bedraggled sloth every day is more of a testament to its powers. Also, my little sample tube doesn’t have the special tip that the regular packaging does. I feel the tip is gimmicky, but it might help depuff due to the light massage you could do with it. The cream itself is very thin, almost like the most lightweight lotion. It has no scent and sinks in rapidly. You only need a rice grain sized amount for both eyes.
Clinique Pep-Start Eye Cream offers great value. It will last you a very long time. I’d suggest this cream for people with oily skin or as a first eye cream for someone in their twenties. I’m in my thirties, but it served me well for daytime use as well as warm weather use when something heavier would just melt off. I appreciate it for the hydrating aspect, but I can’t say it provided much else for me. The only reason I’d hesitate on a repurchase is the silicone.
