Have you guys ever been to Minted.com? I’ve been using the site for a while. It’s kind of like a digital haven for smaller artists and graphic designers. They make stationary that you won’t find elsewhere on a small scale or large scale depending on what you need for your event. One of my neighbors is having her first baby and she wanted to do a very fancy baby shower and send out some nice invites, so I cruised by the site and noticed they had more than just stationary but I was on a stationary mission. Then I got a press release from them a few days later through one of the PR firms they use letting me know they had art and fabric now! Being an art lover is kind of ingrained in me from when I was young and I’ve been lucky enough to work with great artists and designers. Affordable art is hard to come by so I was stoked to see the Minted community grow into something more than just really cool stationary. I looked over the offerings with my husband and he was absolutely GAGA for the foil prints. He especially loved the print of Paris, as we took a very belated honeymoon there for two weeks and like everyone else, fell in love with it.
Paris Print 14×11 with frame $98
The frame selection for all the art and foils are nice and really allows you to customize the piece. We also really like the state maps, the Germany map, the sayings and the geometric ones.
As for the fabrics, I like so many of the designers it’s hard to say what I would choose for myself if I were to make a pillow. Since we live next to the ocean my neighbor was considering a sea life theme or beach theme for her nursery. I’m certainly going to point her in the direction of Shirley Lin Schneider’s creations. Her whale prints and fabrics are beautiful and would appeal to all ages. I do have a penchant for narwhals.
As for the non-foil prints I have a few favorites!
Down Under the Brooklyn Bridge By Jax Robyn $20 – $325
I absolutely adore this one. Totally captivated.
The Final Wave by Matthew Sampson $20 – $470
I’m in love with Matthew’s perspective on his photos. Total genius.
A Shadow In A Storm by Leslie Le Coq $20 – $470
Leslie’s photos of rural settings and animals evoke a stillness and connection to a moment in time. Her work is so calming and restorative.
Surfside by Alexandra Nazari $20 – $470
I feel a certain kinship with this artist, we have a similar eye. All of her work is excellent.
Three Pears by Lisa McLean $22 – $400
I have a serious love of pears in still life situations. I already have two paintings of pear still lifes but this is tempting. I love the palette knife work.
Drive Bye Grove by Jeff Pressus $20 – $470
I liked all of Jeff’s work. The riotous color and cartoonist background are evident in all of his fine art work. This one in particular really captures my imagination in an almost surrealist way. I see Bugs Bunny having tea and cakes with Marie Antoinette somewhere in the copse of trees.
Tempestuous Seas by Gill Eggleston $20 – $470
I love all of Gill’s work. It’s so graphic with a sense of 3D and movement. The shapes and the colors in every piece are spot on. This reminds me of a play I saw once in Portland with the different play backdrops of the water moving to create a wave pattern.
Lights On The Lake by Lindsay Megahed $20 – $470
As you can tell I’m very interested in water, even in the abstract. I find this piece both soothing and invigorating.
Pastel Seas by Kanika Mathur $20 – $470
Anyone who knows me well knows I’m not overly attracted to pastel art (Impressionist work is an exception). This piece has juxtaposition color-wise and I love the flat representation of movement and currents. The playful nature of the piece brings a smile to my face.
Honestly, there were so many to choose from and so many likable pieces I just went with the ones that immediately jumped out at me. I really appreciate the Minted community for offering unique and affordable art. I encourage you to look for yourself at Minted.com to see if you find anything you love! For Valentines Day, they are offering 20% off all foil art and cards so I might have to splurge and pick up the Paris print for Mr. CGR! I’d also like to point out to my artist friends that Minted is a great place to get your things seen by the public and earn money while doing it! Check out all the details here.
