I’ve been seeing people rave about the Bite line for a long time and I’ve never been able to be fast enough on the draw to get a product from one of their LE collections until this year! This is my first Bite lipstick and when I saw the colors in the Bite Frozen Berries collection, I knew I had to have one. It’s been a very long time since I’ve treated myself to a new lipstick. I have a pile of glosses, which I like, but rarely wear due to the maintenance of reapplying constantly or touching up. Turns out I prefer the ease of lipstick and lip pencils. They just seem to offer more mileage and my hair or pet hair doesn’t get stuck in them. After comparing several of the shades of the Bite Frozen Berries collection, I decided the must have shade for me was Plum.
What it is:
A limited-edition, matte cream lipstick inspired by the depth and luster of flash-frozen wild berries.
What it does:
Matte yet moisturizing, Bite’s unique Matte Crème Lipstick has a blend of pigments, powders, and Japanese silica that leave lips with a velvety, soft-focus finish. It features blueberry seed oil, rich in phytonutrients and a potent antioxidant, and cranberry seed oil, which nourishes and moisturizes lips with omega 3, 6, and 9 essential fatty acids not found in other oils. This antioxidant-packed lip formula brings highly pigmented, moisturizing, wearable color to lips.

What it looks like in the tube!
The finish is more matte in one pass and creamy in two.
A shot in full afternoon sun applied straight from the tube!
The Plum matte crème lipstick from the lineup seems to live up to the claims. The box the lipstick comes in is perfectly designed for shipping the product, keeping it protected. The lipstick tube itself is a matte black tube that is easy to open and close. It’s very close fitting so make sure you have the bullet twisted down all the way when you cap the lipstick. The plum color is a glorious actual plum color. If you were to cut a red plum at it’s ripest, it would look almost exactly the same as the color you see in the tube. Applying the lipstick straight from the tube, you notice that there is a hint of drag, even if you lips are prepped perfectly. It’s not as waxy or dry as many other high-end lipsticks, though. I think it’s the texture of the silica for it’s “velvet finish” that make it feel this way. With one pass, it’s a velvety matte that’s not flat. If you add more product it becomes more satin finish. This lipstick covers very well in one pass but can be built up. Building it up doesn’t change the color much, just makes it a bit darker and the product slightly less matte. Applying it with a lip brush, I notice less drag and a more satin finish right off the bat. I prefer the finish straight from the tube in one pass, a matte with dimension. I love how the product feels on the lips during wear. It’s never tight or dry like some mattes can be. I wouldn’t say the formula is incredibly moisturizing but it is not drying and it did seem to condition the lips lightly. The wear time on this shade here is quite insane. I can apply it at 8 am and have it look good until 5 pm. The color stays full on until you eat, minor drinking from a water bottle didn’t disturb it at all. Eating barely budges it either, even with sauce or oil. I was honestly shocked that the finish and color were only slightly disrupted at some of the meals I’ve eaten while wearing this. Soup, spaghetti, and olive oil drizzled wood fired pizza all tried their best, but the lipstick was the victor. It starts to fade noticeably towards the end of the workday, but it leaves a stain that looks intentional and even. My husband has been surprisingly impressed with the staying power and has complimented the lipstick several times, that’s high praise if your spouse actually notices something! The stain lasts on me for 12 hours after the lipstick fades. Even the next morning and into the afternoon my lips will be pinker. Unless you scrub it off with coconut oil or another oil cleanser, you will see how staining it is. If you use a lip primer before hand, this may not happen but I haven’t tested it. I love the stain. Touch ups are also easy, there is no balling up or gloopiness if you want to refresh it after eating. I also love the smell and taste of the lipstick, it’s like Fruit Loops.
After 8 hours of wear, hardly any fading of the lipstick. Indoor lighting.
For the most part, I hate matte lipsticks, so the Bite Frozen Berries collection is a real surprise at least in the Plum shade. I love it and I might have to see if I can get a backup. I might even splurge on another shade. The formula of the matte crème lipstick is a dream and it feels just as high end as NARS or Chanel but at a less painful price point. This product gets an A+ from me and I highly encourage you to try it if you like lipstick or have trouble finding a matte that’s comfortable to wear. The shade is universal, it looks great on cool and warm complexions from the palest to the darkest!
